Save the Children fundraising campaign and creative direction
Launching a standout winter fundraising campaign
When Save the Children launched its winter appeal, the charity needed a campaign that could cut through the busy Christmas fundraising landscape while sensitively telling the story of children forced to flee conflict.
Providing creative leadership and art direction, we helped shape an integrated fundraising campaign built around the true story of a young refugee now thriving thanks to a Save the Children hub. The challenge was balancing hope with hardship while maintaining the urgency needed to inspire donations.
Our creative idea centred on a simple insight: a child's doodle looks very different when childhood has been shaped by war. Using childlike drawings of conflict instead of traditional photography, the campaign stood apart from more conventional charity appeals and created an immediate emotional connection.
The concept became the visual identity for an integrated campaign spanning direct mail, email, digital and web, guiding supporters through a young refugee's journey to safety while encouraging them to help change more children's futures.
